One of my favorite aspects of the technology field is the almost annual innovation that both new and well-established businesses bring to the market. The latest in neat ideas is an affordable braille smartwatch called dot.
Created by a South Korean startup, the product is still in a pre-launch stage (with its expected arrival to be in December for U.S. customers).
What features will it have and how much will it cost? On dot’s website, the target price is listed at under $300, with features that include watch functionality, alarm, messenger, navigation, and bluetooth 4.0. Also mentioned is the importance of bringing e-book reading access to the blind from any location.
With words and information being shared instantaneously in our modern digital world, it’s great that a new company has potentially created a way to bring more access to one part of the human population that previously had very little.
